To donate journals published 1871 to present:
NLM welcomes donations of print journal and index volumes that are missing from our collection. If you represent a medical library that is discarding serial collections, NLM encourages you to share your list of discards, so we may fill in any gaps. NLM will pay shipping for volumes we need. For assistance, contact the Journal Donation Program at NLMJournalDonation@mail.nlm.nih.gov. Visit the Journal Donation Program webpage for more information.
Information for donating historical materials (rare manuscripts, medical books published before 1914, or journals published before 1871) to the NLM is at www.nlm.nih.gov/hmd/about/donate.html.

The American Library Association maintains a list of suggestions titled "Sending Books to Needy Libraries: Book Donation Programs."
