I found an error or mistake in PubMed; how do I get it fixed?

Publishers are responsible for the accuracy of their PubMed citations. Please report errors in PubMed citations directly to the publisher. Our PubMed Data Management (PMDM) system allows publishers or their designated representatives to update or correct nearly all elements of their citations quickly. When writing to the publisher, ask that your email be directed to the team or department that submits XML citation data to PubMed. That same team will be able to fix any errors.
Supply the following information when contacting publishers about errors in PubMed:

  • PMID
  • DOI (if available)
  • Journal name, volume, issue
  • Article Title
  • Clear indication of incorrect and correct information
