Why does the File Selector page or the Run Selector page not display the project and base files for my approved dbGaP project?

Your project and base files do not display because heightened security measures at NIH now require you to log in a second time on the File Selector or Run Selector page. When you click a link from within your dbGaP account, you will see a warning message on the File Selector (A) page or the Run Selector (B) page (Figure 1).

Log In Again

To see the list of your project files that have approved access, do the following:

1. From the upper-right corner, click the Log in button (C). Scroll to the right if you do not see the button.

2. Enter your dbGaP credentials and click the Sign in button.

A successful log in will update the page and show (Figure 2.):

  • Your log in name (A)
  • The project title (B)
  • The precalculated filters in the left column with “Study accession” and “Data category” selected (C)
  • The summary and control for the file list including the “Cart file” button (D)
  • The data table with filtered file list (E)

Selecting any file of interest activates the “Cart file” button, which generates and downloads a cart file.
