To obtain a curated and non-redundant set of proteins for an organism or taxonomic group, search the Protein database by entering the common name, scientific name, or the Taxonomy ID limited to the organism advanced search field

Search term examples:

Python bivittatus[Organism]

bats[organism]

txid5507[orgn]

After conducting a search, use the Source databases facet/filter on the left side of the page to (1) add the curated database of your choice (RefSeq or UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot) to the facet and (2) select the database to display the records. To obtain your local copy of the records, download them from the web in the format of your choice.

Tip: Search the Taxonomy database for exact names of your organism or taxonomic group. For example, you often need to enter the common names for larger taxonomic groups in their plural form (viruses, mammals, snakes).
